About The Chess Clock

How to Use the Clock

Use the controls to enter the number of minutes for each player. Tip: tap the number to add just one minute.
Tap the middle of the screen to continue. This sets up the clock ready to start the game.

Tap the screen again to start: White's clock will start counting down the seconds.
Tap the screen at the end of each go to start the next player's clock.
After using the Pause button, tap the screen to continue.

The Artwork

Beautiful isn't it? This graphic was drawn by the sixteen-year-old A.P., a fellow-member of the De La Salle school chess team in Sheffield in 1976. He drew this poster to advertize our school chess competition and I acquired it by making a donation of 50p to charity (a good deal (!), brokered by Margaret Hughes the librarian).

I found it recently in a dusty packing box in the garage, but I think it deserves a bit more attention...

So this is dedicated, (in memory of our A-Level English Literature course - and with reference to the sonnets of Shakespeare):

To the onlie begetter of this ensuing work Mr. A.P. all happiness and that eternitie promised by our ever-living poet.
